How I can help families

As a parent, it is easy to feel restricted or rejected in helping your teenager with their academic journey.  Teenagers are often reluctant to discuss school life at home and many parents feel isolated and unsure about how best to support their child.  You may be new to the British school and university system or find that your memory of your own school days links to a very different world.  I work with parents to help them understand the academic challenges facing teenagers today.  Please note, however, that although I am happy to advise on the differences between academic life at school and at university, I do not offer private tuition or support for the application process itself.

I am based in central Cambridge and I offer in-person or online consultations.

Guidance for parents

I offer one-off or ongoing support sessions to help you reflect on and understand how best to support your child.

Guidance for teenagers

Some teenagers find it difficult to talk openly with their teachers and parents about the challenges they face at school.  I offer a mentoring service to teenagers to help them reflect on their progress and relationship with work and to empower them to feel confident in how to move forwards.

A whole-family approach

Conversations between parents and teenagers can often become fraught, and especially so when they relate to academic progress.   You may find that your child shuts down when you try to talk to them about school or that they tell you that you do not understand how to support them.  I can help establish an open and calm dialogue between teenagers and parents, facilitating better outcomes.
